    Registration paperwork

I have a quandry, any advice gratefully received. When I stripped my donor vehicle (4 years ago-how time flies) I followed some of the advice on the forum at the time, and sent my registration document for the Sierra off to show an engine change for the RV8 I already had. Now I might have placed the Rover engine in the Sierra for a moment or 2 before completing the scrapping, and now I have a V5 that shows my correct V8 engine number as well as the provenance for the donor. I have seen more recent advice that suggests that Mr DVLA might take a dim view of this; what should I do?

    Many thanks

    QK

Nothing. Anything you do may now excarerbate the problem, or wake them up to the fact that there is a problem that they missed.
Say nought unless asked, then plead ignorance.

The man from VOSA already knows what you've done.....He's read it on the internet! (2 posts up!)

You never needed to fit the engine into your donor in the first place.
You only need 2 major components in your build to have come from your donor. Axles/steering/suspension are more than enough to qualify for an age related plate, and have been since SVA was introduced 10 years or more ago.

Except that's my nom de plume! I know that now, but 4 years ago the prevailing advice was to change the V5 with your V8 engine number...it's always good to be wise after the event

I never spotted your post back then, otherwise I would have put the numpties right who were sending you down the wrong road.
    No worries though.
You don't need to state where the engine has come from for an amature build anyway, just how old it is. That info should be available easy enough. I don't know where to send you on that one as it has been a while since I was involved in a Rover powered car.
Possibly getting in touch with Rimmer bros. or the like will get you some acceptable proof of age.

Thanks for the advice guys, I already have proof of age of the engine so that is not a snag. Doesn't sound as though I have a major problem though...phew.
