    South Wales Area CRC Meetings

    Hi all,
Kevin Davies here "your friendly local Official Cobra Replica Club South Wales Rep" newly appointed.
Firstly I'm sending this out to all of the local(ish) forum members I can trawl from posts on the web
    http://www.cobraclub.com/
As yet I don't have definitive list of members in our patch although I'm told it will hopefully be available soon and then I can reach a wider audience.
At the moment I have 15 of us in the area but I know there many more.

    A little about myself;
I have been an Automotive Engineer all of my working life working in mainly "Test and Development" roles.
Over the past 15 years I have become more specialised in Powertrain and in particular engines, for Rover, Jaguar, Ford and most recently Volvo.
Like most of us I was bitten by the Cobra bug when I was quite young, also like most couldn't afford to do anything about it until 2002 when I finally self built my Dax Tojeiro with a 383ci Chevy dyno'd at 447 bhp attached to a Tremec gearbox.
I still have the car and its due for a few updates soon I reckon.
These days I live near Cowbridge in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Like many I've had some hard times recently due to the "Credit Crunch" but managed to stay afloat and keep the car.
This year I intend to get a lot more use out the Cobra than it's had for the last few years, it's hardly moved due the weather and financial constraints.
So enough about me (Hooray! you all cry)

My initial thoughts are that we as a group are going to probably need more than one regular meeting venue (or a roving one) as we are spread far and wide between the Severn Bridge and the West Coast.
It would be great to get some good group runs in as well as a few shows as a group.
If anyone has any good suggestions fro shows that they've been to and enjoyed suggest away.
If you are willing to get involved in local meetings please drop me an email with your contact details i.e. email address, phone no; etc. I will build a small contact list to mail out details of meetings and runs etc.
(Don't worry it won't be used anywhere else I promise).

I have one route already planned which starts near Cowbridge and ends at Tintern Abbey, I've done it before and it's a lovely run of 120 miles (plus getting home again).
I know that Kelvin has a route planned over to the west near Tenby too.
I'm open to all suggestions at this point.
If you know any other Cobra owners in the area please forward this on to them just in case I don't know of them.
That's all for now I think.
I look forward to all the replies coming flooding in (I hope.)

you can PM me through he CRC Forum (kdavies3) http://www.cobraclub.com/

Some of you will have already seen this via a PM which also has my email and phone no's on.

    Cheers
    Kev.

    Hi Kev
Anywhere more or less central would be good for a meeting place for me.
I work in Bristol, so probably weekends only for me.
the proposed runs look good, east or west.
I do the Tenby run quite often, along the coast road is really nice, I imagine Kelvin will have the best route, as he lives down that end & has local knowlegde.
I already know a few people, Kelvin, Andrew, Jonboy, I am aware of a few others beside yourself, Bitsilly, Kesha,Taurus,Tommo. etc
sorry if I missed anybody, add some names to the list.
within about 1 mile of my very rural location, there are about 10 car enthuisiasts (not cobras). It seems like everone with accesss to a shed in south wales has got a car hobby, amazing amount of expertise out there, A guy in our local village rebuilds old Rileys for a livng.

    Blimey Rowley,
you have a comute I don't envy everday.
I assume you run in a groove you've worn in the M4?

Central for you is probably at my place.
That said my Local is a cracker and would make a a great venue for a lunchtime meet.
It was mentioned in a recent post on here "The Plough & Harrow" at Monknash.
Good beer and Good food. (not that I condone drinking and driving, other boozers are available)

    Hi Rowly,
My Family is steeped in Riley history, my father and his brothers and friend had many pre war rileys between them, wish I had them now, I can remember when he bought a Morris 1000 and I thought at last a real car, What a prat, you only realise what you had when its not there. Where abouts is the village you are talking about?
    Regards,
    Peter.

PS Cobra still in garage unsold so will join a meet, Rudge Ulster motorbike a possibility to replace it!

    Hi all
I stop in Bristol during the week, that M4 leaves a groove in my ar$e, I work till late in the evenings & then sometimes get home on thursday nights.
our nearest village is Llangyndeyrn, where the Simon, the Riley resides. I think he rents a shed from a nearby farmer.
I also live on a farm, My wife grows tree seedlings, for a living,(another industry declining)
I renovated the sheds/worshops some time ago, so it it nice to have a bit of space, but it's amazing how much junk can accumulate.
I write poetry & nonsense for a hobby, laying claim to being a particpant in the worlds longest chain of Pantoums & also worlds longest series of limericks Currently 6500 plus.
an element of nonsense sometimes creeps into my posts, but there is an element of nonsense in most thing nowadays, so in that respect at least, I am in touch with the rest of the world.
