    Charging problem

Ive had a problem where I was overcharging and boiling the battery. I put this down to faulty voltage regulator in the alternator as the output was reading 16.2 volts.
Ive fitted a new alternator and battery but am still reading 15.8 volts at 2,000revs.
    What can be causing this?

Is this a one wire or a three wire alternator?

The issue could be the voltage sensing wire - where does it go?

As you say, 15.8V will cook the battery.

It has 3 wires. Please see pic attached.
Could the 2 top wires be wrong way round?

It is possible, but I couldn't say for certain.

Might just be worth swapping to see what happens.

Does your "charging" light work as normal?

    Thanks Wilf.
Swapped the wires round and issue now resolved.
Ive now also got a spare working alternator.
