Have you got a rev limiter fitted? I did same, managed to snap a rocker stud on the Chevy (ARP studs fitted as standard to AFR heads). In my case I'd got a bit excited at Santa Pod and over revved it which is what I think did it. Sounds horrific when it happens!!

You can also get ARP bits here:-

    ICE Automotive

Very helpful people and near me...

    Denis

If you take something to bits often enough, eventually you'll have two of them......

Dave - having watched you get this car on the road for what seems decades, I am very relieved to hear that your horrid noises may be simply resolved. Bet you are too. Now of course, if you had started out with the right engine to begin with.............

Picked up the Arp Rocker studs this Morning, Jeff (Hauser) was spending the weekend in Bournemouth so that was handy, had to shorten 8 of them as they were too long threaded for the heads, spent a few hours changing them all over, and resetting the valve lash, started her back up, oil pressure fine, sounds like a swiss watch (sort of!) run out of time so will take for a run tomorrow, hopefully should be ok.
