    Camber setting

    OK - so picked the car up yesterday (7 hour drive) nice!

    I now have the front wish bones etc all fitted - come to set the camber with the piece of paper/string/set screws etc and it all seems a little un-precise....Is this really the best way?

    Im also confused (doesn't take much) by the fact that you put the two set screws in place but why one with washers around it? Depending if you have large or small washers this could alter the angle so seems odd. Is it better to set it another way - i.e. with an iPhone for the angle rather than a piece of paper????

    Any experience of this welcome! I thought I had seen a post about this but couldn't find any.

    This should say Caster setting not Camber!

    Its actually the Gen 3 but I'm following the Gen 2 instructions and its pretty similar in this area.

    check the threads on the site. It's been covered enough in the past. I used 2 rulers at 90 degrees and some string, with a bit of trig. Amazing how accurate it actually can be. I bought a digital spirit level some time afterwards, Checked the setting and the set up was spot on. As I say do a search and all will be revealed.

    Yes I have found some...it's not the calcs I have an issue with its the odd bit about washers on one screw and not on the other...
    Once I have an edge to work from I'm sorted.

    It does seem odd, why not just do without the washers and increase or decrease the angle as appropriate?

    i just made the assumption that an m6 washer was an M6 washer!

    Yer I'll have to do the same....need some washers first. The kit says it has some but they a recall too big.

    Off to the shops then....

    I used an app I downloaded onto the iphone instead of the string.

    I did question the accuracy of the app but it can't be any worse than string and a paper gauge.

    I received my kit on Wednesday and currently at this stage, I used the washers on the lower bolt as mentioned. I am getting about 7.5-8 degs on the right and about 10 on the left. I was happy to keep 7-8 as having power steering.

    I will go back to put shims on the upper ball joint on the left side as want to match.

    My question is if the shims suddenly push me towards 12 degs and no shims is 10, how do I reduce it to 7-8?

    What are the tolerances? Is having around 8 instead of 5-6 ok if have power steering?

    What does this effect on the car?
