    Insurance Company Agreed Value Assessments

Hi All - cant find anything on here about Agreed Values. Footman James want an independent valuation from a "cobra specialist or Club official" in order to insure me at an agreed value. Have others faced this / what have you done?

The place I bought it from is excluded and I am miles from any of the "known" specialist Cobra dealers or AK themselves.

Any suggestions much appreciated! I am in East Sussex - a few miles south of Tunbridge Wells.

    Thanks in advance
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,
I'm not sure that any of the "Club Officials" are in a position to help really.
Yes most of us have a good understanding of the genre and have a handle on market prices but I suggest that you talk to Anthony Hale (Absolute Horsepower) or Dave Brooks (DB Replicas). They are both pro-builders and sellers.

Adrian Flux have an agreed value policy, no inspections required, just list any modifications (which they understand that on a kit car, means, er, everything) take some good quality pics (to make sure you aren't insuring 20 quids worth of old nail for a hundred grand in hope of profit I assume), choose the value you want and they'll price the premium accordingly.

I can confirm this with Flux, it's up to you, the premium will reflect your decision, so being realistic pays off in the eventuality

I really like the business model, nice and simple, no arguing about book value - and most importantly to me, the car stays mine. Tempted to do it for my other cars.

However unlike my other cars, if, god forbid, there is a major off, I would happily chuck unreasonable sums of money into a rebuild of the cobra - all the agreed value and more. I would happily rebuild it from a wreck, rather than replacing it with a different car - because I'm emotionally attached to it.

Not sure I would retain that emotional attachment if it tried to kill me

Andrew I did mine for FJ last week. I got my local garage who knew the car to do it. And all was OK. Don't over think it.
