Hi Graham, basically you fit the bell housing without the gearbox connected with the clutch assembly removed. On the flywheel you put a magnetic stand to hold a dial gauge which will run along the circular edge of the hole on the rear of the bell housing as you turn the engine over by hand slowly.Then having looked at the readings if they change whilst rotating the engine, you can get some offset dowels to move it in the appropriate direction, to reduce the amount of movement as much as possible. From memory I think the maximum movement should not exceed 5 thou. HTH
