East Anglian Newsletter and meet info - May 2017

    Here's May's newsletter - http://www.ukcobraclub.co.uk/forum/i...hp?topic=620.0

    May

    Hi to you all,
April’s meet at The Willow House, Watton coincided with Easter Day, but a handful of chocolated-out stalwarts enjoyed the lovely pub and superb food.
Steve thundered up to Watton in the Dax and was joined by Mark and Colin and friend in a SLK and a Lotus.
They all succumbed to a big bowl of spotted dick and custard and all agreed that not even a wafer-thin mint could be eaten. Just as well.
As has become traditional now, conversation was varied, but of note were:- how to get even more cars in your reasonably sized garage; the life affirming properties of manuka honey; the problems of getting in and out of sports cars as we all, inevitably, get older; and (hot topic alert) feathers on ladies shoes.

Also, towards the end of the month, was Andy Soar’s A S Motorsport Open Day. We started the day early, blasting up to the East Anglian Country Show with the dawg in the big red Monaro. We then dropped by Andy’s open day just after midday for a burger, a chat with old friends and a wander around. It was good to see everyone, especially some old cobrateers such as Geoff Arscot. We’re not sure whether Sue Lindsell found her sunglasses? Andy and his team looked to be very busy. Sadly, no photos from your scribes. If you weren’t there, you’ll have to imagine a full car park of cobras, GT40s, Astons and other delights.

So, for this month’s meet on Sunday 21st May @ 12:00, we’re off to East Norfolk this month. We’ve put a pin in the map, consulted the good book and chosen The Ferry House, Ferry Road, Surlingham, Norfolk, NR14 7AR https://surlinghamferry.co.uk/ and 01508 538659. The pub is right on the River Yare so bring your best boating attire. Don’t forget to phone and book if you intend to eat. Sadly, we won’t be able to join you, let us know how you get on.

We’ll continue to populate the ‘3rd Sunday’ calendar with interesting pubs to visit in our usual ‘On Tour’ format.
If you have a recommendation or favourite venue, please let us know.
June 2017 - West Suffolk – The Henny Swan, as recommended by Paul Jarrett.
July 2017 - East Suffolk – either Suffolk Food Hall, or Jimmy’s Farm, as recommended by Joy Soar.
    August 2017 - West Norfolk
    September 2017 - East Norfolk

    etc.

We’re always on the lookout for pub recommendations and event info for 2017 – if you have a recommendation or favourite venue, please let us know. We have received some for East Suffolk, still on the lookout for other areas.

Nice day out today near the water! Fish and chips, scampi, some white bait and some roast beef (not all eaten by me) but only three Cobras however (were was everyone else!)

On the way home me and Clare stopped on Long Melford green at the Black Lion pub and had a nice glass of white wine in the sunshine!

Bummer. The photos on the green were deleted.

For some reason, if you post to here from photobucket, but then delete the photos from your photobucket account, the photo vanishes from this site! How strange

Not strange at all - if you post photos that are hosted on Photobucket then the photos are .. hosted on Photobucket - that is, every time someone views the thread and their computer requests the picture it comes from Photobucket and not this site. So if you delete them there .. they disappear here and everywhere else that might be linking to Photobucket
