    Brake servo

After starting the engine I pressed down on the brake pedal and it stuck half way. The brakes still operated, but appeared to be permanently part on, with the pedal well down. After I switched off the engine, the pedal suddenly jumped back into it's correct place.

Some extensive Googling says that this is likely to be a servo problem. Well, 1992 was a while back. Does anyone know of a substitute for a Sierra servo? Or can you fix them?

    Thanks

    Hi Bernie,
Don't know about repair, there do seem to be some on eBay though, and those on-line breakers yards. If you're near a knowledgeable Ford parts person, they may be able to tell you that the servo was also fitted to other Ford models. I've found this to be the case with other Ford parts.
    Regards, Don

Thanks for that. I can't reproduce the fault, so maybe it was just because the car hadn't been used for some weeks. I'm going to try more cautious tests.

Have you checked the pedal and the master cylinder? Servos are usually pretty reliable
