    Indicator/lights stalk on MK2 Pilgrim

    Hi All,

I currently have just an indicator stalk which is really a tight fit on my MK2 Pilgrim. Ideally I would like to add a lights/windscreen wipers stalk to it but it i don't think there is enough room as it is at the moment

Does anyone have any idea how I would need to adjust things to make them fit

Many cars use a Sierra column which had two stalks.
    Assuming yours is Cortina?
Original cars had one stalk (VW Beetle) with the switches for lights and horn and wash wipe on the dash.

It was tight on my car but I slightly bent the stalks.
I think you could also move the column out a bit as it sits in a deep boss on the bulkhead. Mine is a Granny based car though.

Thanks Stu. Thats what I was wondering if I can pull the column out a bit as looking at the bracket it looks as if it would take another switch/stalk on the other side of the column. That way I can get the lights and wipers onto the column and remove some of the switches as they are restricting the dash going back towards the heater.

    Cheers

Mine has the Cortina column, I have the indicator, wiper and light stalks. You should find there are two fittings holding the column in place:
    - two bolts facing upwards just behind the dashboard. In mine they are packed down slightly and have slots to allow movement in/outwards.
    - a rather crude bolt arrangement holding the column in lower down towards the bulkhead.

Loosening those should allow you to pull the column towards the driver’s seat. Be careful as that will change the angle of the column extension in the engine bay. I had to fit a shorter fanbelt to avoid the alternator fouling that on my car

I think the stalks from Escort Mk 2 and Granada Mk 2 will also fit your column.

As others have said, move your steering column out a bit and be prepared to gently bend the stalks - they are hollow tubes so be careful.
