Here is the freshly struck GRP housing

I trimmed it to the size I wanted

I slotted the box section steel into the housing

Lastly I applied a load of Carbond all over the steel and the underside of the housing, positioned it and clamped it.

Hopefully it will be up to the job

Nicely done, but you do now know the hinge holes will pointing inwards and upwards as you created the bend after aligning the hinges.

To keep the holes aligned I shaped my flat bar and using threaded bar to keep the holes on the 4 plates aligned then welded them into position

Do the hinges still operate in the vertical plane ?
or have you welded the brackets not at 90 degrees to the box section to compensate for the bend

Lets hope the Carbond all over the steel and the underside of the housing has not set yet .

    Why do you say that?

It would be easier to pull off the box section.
The brackets could then be positioned at the correct angle so they don't bind.

Meant to say.....When you bonded the panel to the underside then the hinge point would be critical for the bonnet to line up flush
Might be an idea to bond it to the undeside when the bonnet is still attached to the hinge plates.
I'm not far behind you with my own build.
I am securing the bonnet and boot hinges from the inner wing panels.

As an aside......you might still get away with the bonnet hinge if you could get a rose bearing to fit the flat bar.

I don’t need to do any of that, the hinges will work fine

Good stuff! I can see the bend is not a tight arc, my 1st hinges had that much play, I could have bent the bar 90 deg and they would still work, hence why I made mine to the original style.
The bonnet is not too bad to do, but the boot has to be lifted up out the hole and then start to arc.does that make sense?
