Hi Kev, think my memory has dropped you in it!! Did you have to increase the radius, for IVA, on the lens edges of your most recent cob build (L542’s)? Hope you are keeping well.

I did increase the radius on the plastic lenses slightly to bring them in too IVA tolerances.
Rub them down with wet and dry and then polish them back up again.
Although I believe that others have passed without modding the lens.

I have continued work on the passenger door. The fit is getting much better. There is still some more to do but its good progress.

Maybe a time to remind you of what the fit was like originally.

    And now

With the door sitting quite nicely it became obvious that the inner lip on the aperture that carries the door seal needed some work to get it running parallel to the door so that the seal would work nicely without applying too much pressure on the door. The front and rear bottom corners were the problem. So out came the angle grinder again.

Roughly glassed up, ready for sanding and filling

With that sorted, it was time to tackle the job I have been dreading, the door catch.

I picked my position, marked out and drilled and tapped the door

    I then fitted the latch

At this point it became obvious that the latch needed packing off from the door to put it in the right place to work with the catch. After some trial and error I settled on an 18mm thick plywood packer, which I am hope to cover in tome vinyl when I make the door cards.

Next job was to fabricate the mounting bracket for the wedge shaped catch part of the assembly. This took hours to get spot on, but I got there eventually.

    So here it is done

The next item is to improve the fit of the door to the body at the rear.
