    Age related registration.

    Hi All,

    I would like to do a little research regarding the recording of details on your V5’s.

    My quest is to establish how age related cars have their dates of first registration and dates of first use recorded.

    My understanding was that an age related car would have split dates showing donor age date and New post IVA test date

    A new low volume type car would display both entries as the new date.

    So there is a poll below if I can figure out how to set it up.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

    They used to display both dates as you say but for quite a few years now they only display the date of registration in both boxes. Normally.

    Andrew,

    Pilgrim Sumo completed in April 2014, donor vehicle Ford Granada first registered in 1990 (H prefix);

    IVA completed on 16-Apr-2014;

    Registered as Pilgrim Sumo Mk3 on 01-Jun-2014 with an age related plate (H prefix)

    V5c states:

    8. Date of first registration 30 01 1990
    (8.1) Date of first registration in the UK 01 06 2014

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,
    Ian

    Yes, very helpful.

    I have experienced a seemingly random application of dates over the years. Since centralisation from local offices there seems to be a swing towards both dates being New.
    I had established through the local office specialist that the age related route should be described with split dates and the all new reg route would both be new dates.

    I would like to get this clarified to enable clear dialogue with customers. Especially foreign interest.

    Thanks,

    A

    I went through the registration process in September and have an age related number (T suffix). V5 gives both dates as 01/09/2017. No mention of 1978 anywhere on the V5.

    Thanks all for the responses.

    I have also noticed a recent age related V5 come back with reg. number non transferable. This is the first time i have seen this I think.
    It begs the question about assigning a cherished plate at first registration which is quite possible. Would it then become non transferable?
    I my instance the donor was an ageless plate from 1960 and although the customer had a cherished plate to transfer I was hoping to place the age related number onto retention for future use.
