You can add me to the list. I am approx. two thirds through the build of an AK Gen 1. Rover V8 with Edelbrock carbs (old school as Jon says). Body on and just finished the headers and don't want to have to spend more money and time in redoing them so I can fit cats. I estimate, time and everything else being fine I should be able to complete the build by end of August ready for an IVA test in September. This is hoping that if this legislation does go through we have until the end of the year before it is brought in.

I am currently in build, AK Gen 2, old school Chevy 383 and side pipes already purchased and fitted.
I doubt I would be able to get it finished by the end of the year.
Well not without stealing some dosh and getting a divorce anyway…..

I’m not too concerned about EFI as I did install an EFI tank and return just in case I wanted to swap at a later date.
What bothers me more is having to modify my nice new side pipes/headers to fit CATs.
If it’s possible to do it without modifying the headers and “hiding” them within the AK side pipes then all well and good.
But it sounds like it’s not going to be as simple as that…

Obviously I’d prefer not to bother with any of the above and pass the IVA in its current guise…

I don't know what your side pipes look like but if they OEM style like the ones DB supplies then there are cats that fit perfectly inside them invisibly.
No need to modify your headers.
You need to fit the cats as far forward as possible to get the heat to them.

    Another +1 in build.
And I don't have DB sidepipes...I paid a small fortune for my sidepipes before DBs china operation started, and reluctant to throw them away.

    Are your pipes re-packable Kev?
If so then you should be OK to insert cats.

    In build here too.
    452ci FE, 850cfm Holley.
I should be able to get it to IVA by May (supposed to be going to Le Mans Classic in it in July).
You could say that I am unaffected by the proposed changes but not really because I will no doubt be building another Crendon in the future.

    Just a tip guys.....
The people that work at VOSA and DVLA actually come here to see what we are up to and what the 'work arounds' are.
If you post something here about circumventing the rules they will see it and be looking to close the loop hole.
