    Xj differential breather cap

    Hello,
Whilst under the car doing bits, decided to check oil level in the diff. Its a powerlock 3.54 one.
Oil wasnt level with plug so topped up and decided to put some more in through round black breather cap, just another 20ml or so with syringe. Only thing was when i prised the black cap off i didnt see which way the insert under it went? Anyone removed this?
Dont want to get it wrong way around incase it does not vent properly...
    Any ideas?
    Regards

Don't overfill the diff! I ruined one of my early track days, oil from a hot diff sprayed out over the inboard brakes . Not a good idea!!
    Cheers Clive

'T' shaped inner breather fits into the pipe then the little plastic 'springs' inside the main cap keep it 'shut' and in place flat side faces the outside world. Acts as a one way valve allowing fumes out but shuts under vacuum stopping you drawing in water and cr*p if you dunk the diff when it's when hot.
