March

Hi to you all,
February’s meet was, for a change, bright and dry, although still a bit ‘seasonal’.
So, as the Big Black Dax looked to be comfortably tucked up in the garage, Steve fired up the Monaro for some V8 entertainment and headed to The Greyhound, The Street, Tibenham.
On arrival it was fairly obvious that the Sunday carvery was very popular as the place was rammed – and very good the spread looked too.
Steve was soon joined by Andy Soar, who had hauled out his 289 for a blast to the pub. Andy Edmunds then pitched in, and a healthy discussion about the possible changes to vehicle emissions requirements for new build kit cars was held. Andy E has been building his cobra ‘since Adam was a lad’ so the chance to avoid this could have been dodged. However, as he is building a bit of a one-off without any factory support, progress has often been 1 step forward / 2 steps back.
Afterwards, Steve and Andy S dropped into the AS Motorsports ‘skunk-works’ to have a look at the current special projects up on the ramps.

Since the meet, the weather has been VERY winter, with a fair bit a snow around the edges of Chez Browns. So, naturally, we have stayed in the warm, drinking hot Bovril and eating plenty of porridge.

Even through the official First Day of Spring has been and gone, it’s all still a bit rubbish outside. Let’s hope the weather improves for the forthcoming Goodwood Members Meeting and March’s meet.

Which brings us to this month’s meet on Sunday 18th March @ 12:00, we’re off to West Suffolk. In time honoured fashion, we’ve stuck a well sharpened pin in the Good Beer Guide map again and chosen - The Cock, Lavenham Rd (A1141), Brent Eleigh, Sudbury, CO10 9PB
https://whatpub.com/pubs/WSB/94/cock-brent-eleigh and (01787) 247371. We’ll see you there.

Don’t forget to respond with your interest for the classic car meeting at Burston Village & Crown Pub (near Diss) on 27th May 2018. “Classic Cars will be parked at the (16th century) Crown Pub and on the village green, around a Maypole adjacent to the historic Strike School. Refreshments and facilities will be available at both the famous Strike School and the Burston Crown”.
Please RSVP if you are interested in attending.

We’ll continue to populate the ‘3rd Sunday’ calendar with interesting pubs to visit in our usual ‘On Tour’ format.
If you have a recommendation or favourite venue, please let us know.
April 2017 - East Suffolk
May 2018 - West Norfolk
