Custom underslung exhaust makers / repairers

    Hi All,

In order to get at my leaking inboard brake caliper (still not got the damm thing off - waiting on the postman with some tools) - I had to remove the rear section of my underslung exhaust. Took the middle section off at the same time as it is damaged split from grounding damage.

Looking for somewhere in the south east (ideally near Tunbridge Wells / East Sussex area) that can either cut out the damaged section of pipes aft of the silencer (only about 12 inches plus crossover) and weld a new identical section in or remake the whole middle section in SS by copying the damaged one, without having the car on site. For some reason the front and rear of the system is SS and the centre section mild steel. Pics below - it needs cropping off at the box and the section to the u-bolts replacing.

All the fabrication shops I have tried cant deal with the small amount of pipe bending required and the specialist exhaust places all want the car to do the job (bit of an issue as it isnt driveable at the moment and the ones I have found are miles away.)

    Any recommendations gratefully received.

    Thanks
    Andrew

You could remove the section and send to someone like below, they will be at Stoneleigh if that helps to discuss?

P.S personally i would take the plunge and remove the under-slung to upgrade to side pipes, also available competitively priced from the above.

    Andrew,

Try searching for a local 'mobile welder'. They may be more amenable to doing this sort of job for you? Either at your home or take the exhaust section away.
My father had a similar exhaust problem last year. He ended up sourcing various bits of tubing from eBay and handed it over to a local welder to join it all up.

Its removeable and you can travel - SuperDuper garage in Basingstoke - they've done mine, another cobra with an LS3 (needed cats installing inside the existing sidepipes) all the way through to a full custom switchable exhaust for my friends Ferrari 458.

Thanks Alex - I was about to ask for the name of the garage but then googled Super Duper Basingstoke! I will give them a call.

Thanks for the other replies too - while I would love the extra ground clearance side pipes would give me amidships, I prefer the understated (some may say boring) older English look.

Good stuff. Mention me... (red pilgrim) if they need mine in to get measurements to copy from I can always nip it in.
