    June
Hi to you all, Well, various things got in the way, and we weren’t able to get to May’s meet, at The Olde Windmill Inn, Great Cressingham. However, some of you did and Guy Beston has sent a photo of the assembled vehicles in the car park (minus Mark Bright’s BRA who legged it before the photo call). Thanks Guy. May has (according to the tabloid of your choice, been the hottest on record) so there has been plenty of opportunities for wind in your hair / open top motoring. We took the big black Dax to the Dedham Vale Vineyard Classic Car Show (and Wine Tasting) at the end of May. The vineyard is local to us, so we fired up the car and convinced the dawg to come along too. As can be seen from the photo, there was a good turn out of cars, and a wide spectrum of classics to admire. The dawg enjoyed being walked around the vineyards and we enjoyed sampling (and purchasing) some of their white and rose wines. It was a very enjoyable way to spend the afternoon, lots of people were making the most of the weather to set up their picnics by the lake and take in the ambience (and drink the wine!). The red Mustang next to our Dax was, apparently only 2 weeks old! June is now here, and with it barbeque and events season. We’ve taken in a few local agricultural shows so far (Suffolk Show and Hadleigh Show) plus there has frequently been the aroma of burning charcoal and gently searing meat wafting about the garden in Chez Brown – more to follow 😊 Also on the calendar for June (hard stamped in indelible markings) is the annual trip across the ‘ogin to the 86e 24 Heures du Mans (or the Le Mans 24 Hours to us English speakers). Steve and Andy Soar are again joining their multi national bunch of friends in Houx campsite for 5 days of beer and barbequed meat (plus some motor racing thrown in for good effect) – what’s not to like? No doubt, next months newsletter will carry some details of what went on. Bon Voyage Steve & Andy. Which brings us to this month’s meet on Sunday 17th June @ 12:00, we’re off to EastNorfolk. It’s also Father’s Day so we understand you may have other plans. Steve and Andy will be having their own meet in the Circuit de la Sarthe. But the rest of us can go to The Angel, Larling, Norwich, NR16 2QU. https://www.angel-larling.co.uk/ and 01953 717963. The pub is just off the A11 between Thetford and Attleborough. Don’t forget to phone and book if you intend to eat. We’ll continue to populate the ‘3rd Sunday’ calendar with interesting pubs to visit in our usual ‘On Tour’ format. If you have a recommendation or favourite venue, please let us know. July 2018 - West Suffolk August 2018 - East Suffolk – Guy Beston has recommended the Griffin Inn, Yoxford. September 2018 - West Norfolk October 2018 - East Norfolk etc. Steve & Eileen Brown Home - 01206 863804 Email – thebirches@hotmail.com Photographs - © Eileen Brown / Guy Beston / markwebber.com
