    IVA / Q plate query?

    Hi guys, I’ve been offered a half built Land Rover Defender 90 build with 80% new parts including a new 2017 chassis, new suspension, new running gear including axels but with a reconditioned V8 engine.

    It has a donor body which I could if the price is right replace with a new one to reduce reconditioned components.

    My question is if I take it on how can I end up with a new registered car and not a Q plate once I get it through an IVA? Is that possible?

    It’s been built with a lift kit and big tyres so not sure how that impacts things.

    I assume you are able to use reconditioned parts such as engine block.

    Any thoughts welcome.

    Hi,
    Personally, I'd give it a wide berth.
    Who knows what it's been built from, sounds a bit dodgy, how come the donor doesn't have a V5?

    There is no donor, a garage was building it up from scratch as a bespoke build for a client using mainly new components as he wanted a petrol V8 and they no longer manufacture them. They client then disappeared for one reason or another leaving a part built car.

    New reg = all new parts (1 item may be used but reconditioned to “as new”)

    Doner = age related

    Not new & no donor = Q

    Really depends on how many receipts are missing I guess
