    Electronic conversion

Hi can anyone recommend an electronic conversion kit please. I have a Ford distributor C3 AF 12127 AE, which according to a ford website is a Dual points mech advance only. And any advice on where to buy one from if possible. Many thanks

I’ve just done that on my 302. I used PerTronix Ignightor. They do a set for most distributors. Fairly simple job but makes a massive difference. There may be an issue with your rev counter but that can be fixed.
I don’t know where you might find on to suit your dizzy but you can order one from Summit in the USofA.

I'd go with the Pertronix Ignitor 1. It looks like the part number for your dual point without vacuum advance is 1284. NO doubt it's available in the UK, although I didn't see it on the UK Amazon site.

The Ignitor 2 never had good reviews. The Ignitor 3 is supposedly very good and comes with a built in rev limiter.

    You can visit their website:

I use the Pertronix 1 with their recommended Flamethrower coil and it works flawlessly. A coil P/N for yours ought to be 40111 which is black and epoxy filled. You could also use their 40011 which is black, but oil-filled or their 40001 which is oil filled, but chrome.

The Ignitor 2 or 3 use different coils respectively.

I strongly recommend you search their website yourself to confirm these part numbers.

Code suggests an FE application - I just ordered this from Summit recently: https://www.summitracing.com/int/par...3700/overview/
    Plus this: https://www.summitracing.com/int/par...5111/overview/

MSD make similar, but I went for PerTronix for simplicity at this point, and it's what the engine builder is familiar with. If you want to save on shipping you might *just* be able to get it shipped to Miami in time to hit STS Imports next container (being packed on 1st April - it has a bunch of my stuff in it).. (sadly my Scat rotating assembly is still on back-order )

(Awaits flood of negative experiences with PerTronix kit )

[edit] John beat me to it with the negative review of the Ignitor II

Thanks for the help everyone. I’ve found Pertronix Europe in Camberley and messaged them, so hopefully be able to get it from there

I went Pertronix too on my Rover engine Cobra. Ignitor 1 and Flamethrower 40001 chrome coil. It's been fitted at least 10 year without the merest of an issue.
I bought mine through Retro Rockets in US. Very helpful. Here is their website for finding the right one for your distributor and pricing.
