    Drones at Stoneleigh

Does anyone know if there are any restrictions regarding flying drones at Stoneleigh?

Would anyone here have any objections if I flew one over the Cobra parking area on Monday morning?

Looking into this a bit on the internet and there’s a complete minefield associated with flying at a public event, so better leave it.

It is always better to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

You are allowed to fly no closer than 150 ft to buildings and people. This also means 150 ft up. If you were to take off 150 ft away from people, and stay ABOVE 150 ft you would be complying with the Drone code......

    Hi Craig,

It sounds as though you may have already found the official definitive answer:

As a drone owner myself, thanks on deciding against this - the Gatwick incidents have already provided enough negative publicity in the UK, and I fear it wouldn't take much for the government to legislate this great hobby to death!

Another thought, there may be restrictions due to Stoneleigh’s proximity to Coventry airport...

There was a Drone filming over our cars on Sunday! Not sure if he was an official or not but the way he was zooming the Drone in and out and up and down made me nervous!! At the height of the show on Sunday there were 63 cars - Monday 20!!

I didn’t think the general attendance of cars this year was as high as in the past. Number of stalls seemed to be less also. Monday is usually less than Sunday but 20 cars? That’s the same as a regional meet!

Look on the show's f/b page - there are drone pics there.
Sadly demonstrates what we have been saying in this thread.
