    Tyre Help

    Hi,
i have a set of 15” Image Halibrands, front 7.5J and rear 10J.
the tyres on them at the moment are BF Goodrich front 215/60 R15 and the rear 255/60 R15.
Although they have never been used as I bought them with the unfinished kit, they must be at least 15-20 years old. They also do not show a speed rating on them.
i have been told to bin the tyres anyway because they are too old but I cannot seem to find a replacement set, especially for the rear.
Does anyone have any idea as to what size tyres I could fit on these rims which might be easier to come by?
Bearing in mind I don’t want a large arch gap.

    Thanks

    Ben

Have a look at north hants tyres - vitour galaxy. V rated, proper road tyre sidewall construction really, good in the wet and a bargain.

Even have white lettering on one side...

And another vote for the Galaxies, I’ve done about 1,000 miles on mine now, no perceived issues. V rated IIRC, and North Hants Tyres will tell you what their ratings are for noise, wet grip, and fuel consumption - the latter figure isn’t great, but my reasoning was that I don’t drive the Cobra for fuel economy (I have a dull hybrid for that !)

I went to see Northants to pick up some Galaxies for mine, great people and will fit the tyres while you wait.

I wish they were Northants tyres, they'd be a lot closer! (North Hants vs Northants .. I'll get my coat!)

If you have them shipped to you .You will need to find a local independent tyre fitter as the big companies do not want to fit your supplied tyres. It cost me £20 a tyre to fit and balance but they took a lot of time doing the balancing and weights on the inside only.

Another one for recommending the Galaxies and North Hants tyres.

The side walls on the Galaxies are more vertical than the BF Goodrich tyres I replaced so I could of easily gone up a size on the rears from 235/60 on my Dax . I see your looking at 255/60 which will look a lot larger diameter than your front 215/60.

Hi, yes I inherited the wheels with kit Ram kit bought. The BF Goodrich do look good on the car but cannot use them as not compliant now. The galaxy’s look good so I’ll get a set on order. I assume IVA will be happy with them!
