June

Hi to you all, Despite the threat of a bit of localised drizzle, May’s meet at The Royal George, Barningham brought out a good showing of our favourite open topped cars. Steve dragged the grand old Dax out of a dusty garage and enjoyed a good pre-Le Mans shake down run to the pub. He was joined by Mark Bright, Gary Burrells, Chris Jennings and family and Don Bowtell and his wife. Don’s Dax was sporting its new fastback style hardtop. The hardtop was very impressive and features bright finishing around the windows and rear quarterlights to aid over-the-shoulder vision. Not that we are trying to sell you one, but more information is available from www.427hardtops.com. Chris gave us a demo of his ‘stay dry in the rain when stationary in a soft top car’ rectangular umbrella. Although it folds to about the size of a regular golf umbrella, when opened, it was big enough to cover the entire cockpit area – definitely a useful go-to item if the weather looks a bit variable (which is often!) https://www.umbrellaheaven.com/produ...brellas-for-2/
Thanks to Mark for the pub recommendation. The food certainly looked to hit the spot, and they had a beer on tap from nearby Star Wing Brewery in Redgrave, so the LocAle fans were happy.

Steve and Andy Soar will be holding their own East Anglian region meet overseas in June, as usual, at the Le Mans 24 Hours. No doubt they will be well behaved and drink only chilled water and eat healthily! Watch out for the full report next month.

Which neatly brings us on to this month’s meet on Sunday 16th June. As well as Le Mans, there is a local Classic Car Show at Wymondham Rugby Club, Barnard Fields, Bray Drive, Wymondham NR18 0GQ. We contacted the organisers regarding a club area and have already circulated this information, but the response was a bit serene, so we suggest if you are interested, to make your way there between 10:00 and 11:00. As well as cars, there will be opportunities to be fed and watered, so let’s hope for wall to wall sunshine.

We’ll continue to populate the ‘3rd Sunday’ calendar with interesting pubs to visit in our usual ‘On Tour’ format.
