    Tremec gearbox crossmember

    Hi Guys
I have a Gen 1 AK with a Tremec 5 speed gearbox with a piece of angle iron as a cross member I cannot believe this is the normal way to keep the gear box in and was wondering if any of you guys had a different approach as it looks so cowboyish ??????? or is there a pre made one that fits.

Hi Rich. I used a bracket that AK manufactured and supplied as part of the kit. Secured to the chassis with 4x M10 bolts

I used the ak supplied piece and uprated it by welding additional flaps to it to lengthen it slightly to give more support and added a couple more bolts ...quick and easy to do whilst giving peace of mind

I dont understand why not as I can see it ???? strange ! but I won,t bother changing the angle iron then as it doesn't seem that important to people

As you said it might not be the best looking thing on the car. As long it's doing what it should and no one else can see it is it worth changing ?

    What Pete said.
You could pop plastic thread protector caps on the nuts, to make it easier to remove should the day come.
    Else, I'd leave it.
