Cool Red Top pump location AK Gen2

Looking for a photo to show me where i can locate the Red Top pump on an AK Gen2 chassis.

I have installed the Sytec filter in the usual position close to proshaft/diff connection on the nearside, inside rail.

I am just worried that once drilled and fixed to the same rail with the dimensions of the pump + 90 degree outlet unions + small rubber anti vibration washer i will make...... it will clash with either the prop shaft, gear box or clutch slave cylinder.......

    Any help gratefully received.

PS i dont have the engine yet to drop in and see where the space is. I do have the gear box but not helpful without locating on the engine. The engine will be a Chevy 383.

    Thanks Jules
(just trying to prevent any errors or doubling up of work....)

Fitted my pump in the engine bay, low down by transmission tunnel, near side. Works a treat. Will see if I have a photo.
    Cheers

    Hi sorry about the delay.

My Carter pump can just be seen to the left of the water bottle. Its actually mounted as low down as possible.
    Hope this helps
    Cheers

Check the pump specs, some are good at pushing, some at pulling, you don't want a pump close to the engine that prefers to push as you may get starvation at high revs.

Hi Tony, interesting you should say that. I have now got my Cleveland singing perfect but as you say, when I hit the high revs in 2nd or 3rd, it's suffering fuel starvation!

I'm running a Carter - 90 gal/hr mounted in the same position. 1/2 way between it and the tank is a cheap inline filter, that only has 8mm outlets. I have a replacement with 10mm outlets to fit once it comes back from paint.

I then have a filter king v8 regulator but I cannot get it to 7psi pressure for the Holley.

Does what you say have any bearing on my issue???

Lee, The Carter pump is a push type, and according to the installation manual should be fitted as close to the fuel tank as possible.
