    Question Sidepipes noisy IVA failed!

    Hi all, a while back I bought Sidepipes and headers from AB from E***, very pleased with the quality and had them fitted. So IVA failed due to 101 db(A) and needs to be 99 or less, they have a pair of removable baffles but I’ve been told to shorten the baffles they’re currently about 8-10” long and I’ve been told to chop 2” off them. We tried exhaust wadding last week and it’s made it louder but it was the fibreglass matting type, so I’ve just ordered some acoustafil can anyone advise what’s best to do and have any if you had the similar problem. Due to submitting top speed if 130 mph @ 4500rpm I’m being tested justed under 3400rpm ie 3/4 of max output, all thoughts and ideas welcome retest is 04/09/2019.

    What sort of baffles are in them at the moment ? Or are they straight through perforated tubes ? Personally I would of thought shortening them is the last thing you want to o but I'm no expert.

    not sure what AB and E**** are but If they were guaranteed to be IVA compatible when you bought them, just send them back for correction.

    I’m fairly sure there is an integral baffle where the 4 into 1 part of the side pipe is made then as you state a perforated tube of about 8-10 inches that’s what I wrapped.

    Auction site EBAY but there’s no mention about IVA so I just assumed they’d be ok, I’m sure there’s a fix but just getting the right way as not to represent and fail for another £90!

    The acoustafil will help but it needs to be wrapped with chicken wire too stop it being ripped apart inside the pipes, don't rap it tight, makes it loader, and perforated tube needs section blocked off

    I bought EBay pipes one first Cobra..... 120db on tick over. Sold them for the price I bought them for and bought new ones.

    you can make some Tinka-style baffles to go inside the perf tube - 3 half moons welded to a 6mm rod with the half-moons opposite each other so that the exhaust gases make an S-shape.

    Thats what i did but exhuast back pressure went high....

    I did this as my pipes were just too loud and I've had no adverse effects at all. I'm reliably informed from various sources that some backupressure in advantageous, but I admit I'm no expert. Been like this for 4 or 5 years now.
