Thanks for the quick reply Paul

I need to know the distances from the top of your seat to the underside of the headrest
I think the regulation size is either 25mm or 50mm
    Anyone?

Yes – I altered my seats to have them sitting quite low in order to meet that 450 Min
dimension to the upper seat belt anchorage point….Thankfully it is.

With my seat removed you can see Bolts A & B.
These are for the seat belt fixing framework to the chassis

I intend to utilise these for my headrest support bracket
A stainless plate will be hidden behind the carpet and emerge and hook around the
Rear scuttle area and up to another fixing plate to support the headrest.
This will go behind the harness - so out of the way.

It would be helpful if others out there reading could join in and show how they fitted their IVA headrest.
Don't be shy - go on show how you managed to fit these headrests

I had fixed head rests so 50MM gap max from bottom to the seat. This was my problem because it then also has to be tall enough at the top which can result in a very long head rest which you will probably have to make. My Mini ones just about did it but the tester thought it was about 5mm to small but admitted the seat would compress in real use!!!

The headrest meets the 700 MIN requirement
    BUT
The 50mm above the top of seat might intervere
with the seat belt harness unless I have a slot.

I could elongate the headrest down a bit further
But is it possible for the orange dotted area to be flap ?
Anyone willing to offer an educated guess

The headrest is firmly fixed to the seat frame framework to chassis.
The plywood will be sponge covered to match interior

As you can see the seat cushion was thinned down an inch
    and re-profiled a bit.

I would either raise the seat like I did to as close to the seatbelt mount as possible and/or bring the head rest down to 50mm gap and put a big slot in it making sure the head rest cannot possibly interfere with the seatbelt.
In my test the inspector didnt like the temporary look of my first attempt and failed it on that basis.

    Can’t raise the seat Craig.
Bringing the seat up would also mean bringing up the top of the headrest 700mm Rule
also my upper seat belt anchorage point would need raised .
My upper eye bolt and seat cushion position for the 136x53 datum block are fixed.
+ I like to sit down low in the car

I watched Edd China tonight with the IVA wheeler dealers Cobra episode
It seems he too had a headrest issue.
Did you notice the extra headrest padding below the actual headrest ?
It would appear that GD Cobra needed that extra wee bit to get within the 50mm Rule
I see others on here and elsewhere have done similar.

So…..what I can see is the headrest can be in 2 parts to meet the IVA Rules
1 – the headrest itself to meet the 700mm regulation dimension
2 - the extra padding to meet the 50mm regulation dimension

I.m using these high backs with the headrest as part of the seat, slotted for the belts, just got to check the 450mm thing.
they are bolted rigidly on brackets through the chassis on all four corners in a Dax body. Anyone used these and passed IVA?
There’s a guy on here ‘1 day I will’ that has i’m sure, wink wink

As long as it all looks well build, able to take the expected forces in a crash and permanently fixed, I would say it will be ok. It is a bit of a challenge if you dont have seats with removable head rests fitted to them, and even then I really wonder if they actually meet all the rules as they do need to be huge.

With the number of different IVA questions asked by many members on here
would the Forum benefit from a specific section
    'IVA questions'
then possibly sub-sections to group them under
Headrests ... Bumpers ... Dashboard ...Brakes ... etc

I've looked at the Forum search section and can clearly see that members put up posts
    on different IVA questions.
These have different headings which have the effect of a scattergun approach

Just a thought to improve the Forum.

Yes, that was me. Used the high backed seats with no runners just rigid bolted to the chassis and seat belts through the holes. Passed IVA with no trouble at Gillingham which is one of the toughest test stations apparently.
