    What tyres????

    Right, dont shoot me down.

I have read every search on this forum about wheels and tyres.

I have bought and are being delivered Vintage Wheels Shelby 427 15"rim ; 8" on the front and 10" on the rear for my AK. Due to arrive this thursday. All powder coated black.

In an ideal world i want white writing on the side walls of the tyres.

I want as wide a tread as i can get on the rear and sensible on the front to allow the wheel to turn and not rub the arch.

I have not yet submitted for IVA.

I am aware of the AVON CR6Z2 tyre ......but they dont have white writing......i have just seen a post about the industrial rubber stick on letters from Tredwear in the US (expensive for what they are.....but worth it IF they look the part....anyone used them?)

I like the BF Goodrich look, however is the speed rating going to be an issue for IVA? I have written to the DVSA to get their formal response.

Jon has advised me 215/60/15 front 245/60/15 rear.

Any further ideas or thoughts would be greatly received.

PS> not worried about price, not racing the car so dont need ultimate grip (but some would be useful!!) Just for pottering around at the weekend and beating a few cars on the straight
Dont want wheel arch extenders or any spacers....just standard.

    Thanks

    Jules

Galaxies are your answer. You can add stickers if you wish.

V rated, good value for money, and good performance. Whats not to like?

The Galaxies come with white lettering. I decided to fit them on the inside of the rim just my choice and preference. Well pleased another 900 miles clocked over this weekend in a road trip too France . They are well planted on the drive back in damp country roads in the U.K. .I would always have to feather the throttle with the BFG's if the road was damp! Really chalk and cheese with traction.

I had BFGs, and now have Galaxies. I wanted the lettering, and the grip is better than the BFGs IMO. I thought about stick on lettering but having seen a few attempts at it decided against it. AlexB might be along soon as he has tried a variety of options but I think he eventually got Galaxies too.
