    Overrunning alternator pulley?

    Morning all,

I've been reading up on alternator overrunning pulleys over the past few days and they seem a good idea, ones like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/INA-Over-...75.c100623.m-1

Has anyone used/fitted one or have any feedback on their use. Don't want to waste my time on something that doesn't actually do anything.

    Thanks, Graham

If you have a decent alternator then i fail to see why you’d need to overrun it. I have a 100A alternator and never had any problems.

It's a bit of a misnomer James - rather than overrunning (i.e. a smaller pulley running the alternator faster) it's a pulley with an internal damper mechanism to smooth out any vibrations/speed fluctuations in the drive belt.
