Scissor lift

Hi
I’m in the market for a mid rise scissor lift. I’ve seen a few people on here have them. Interested to hear any recommendations. Had a chat with one of the strongman guys today at the NEC and they do a nice one for £1500.

Hi,

When I was looking a lot of people recommended the Automotechservices one. I also saw this in use at a fellow members garage and was impressed with the build and operation of the lift.

It comes with the extendable platform. They do say you can move it but it is very weighty so will need a few people to move around. I liked the safety locking system and it is also hydraulic .

agree with Paul. I have one and it’s a great bit of kit. Don’t forget to factor in transport costs and even though they are single phase, you will need to change the relevant circuit breaker to a ‘c’ curve, use commando style plugs and you need some hydraulic oil. None of these are hard to do.

Just installed a 2.7 tonne twin ram scissor lift from BH Repairs at Mansfield
Fully tested and full of oil ready to go
Paid a grand plus VAT
Installed a new circuit breaker (c type)

Have just written an article for the next Club Mag
You’ll need to raise cobra about 2 to 3 inches as the Lift is about 5 inches thick when full collapsed

Strange. None of those things are things that I've done - standard house breaker, 13A plug.. works fine. (It also came with hydraulic oil, although I can't remember if I had to order that with it or not, now.. I don't think so, though!)

And yes, it weighs 600Kg or so, palletised, of which about 100Kg must be motor and the other 500Kg is the platform! Don't expect to drag it around single handed unless the surface is like a billiard table (and level)..

Spoke to Automotech, Strongman and Equipment4Garages today - all very helpful.

I like the Strongman but it's ab extra £180 to get the wheels to move it. The guy at Automotech was very helpful. They also do a set of low profile loading ramps.
Has anyone had to buy these with their scissor lift?

If you are going to spend £1500, the wheels at £180 is not much more? Also with the space in your garage why would you want to move it??

This one any good? Not sure where you are as delivery looks a bit pricey but does say forklift delivery.
