corsa b repair
Hi Guy’s, replacing the Corsa B top column bearing
i have read the the threads regarding finding the bearing etc. I now have this bearing and from the limited information that I can find it seems that the shear bolts holding the bearing housing have to be drilled out, is this correct and has anyone replaced this top double bearing ?
Best Regards
Rich

The top-most bearing is in the plastic stalk base - you just pop the two white plastic stoppers out (lever out with a screwdriver), twist the stalk anti-clockwise about five degrees and pull it out of the end of the steel column tube. Then you'd need to press the bearing out of the plastic housing and the new one in.
The only shear bolt I'm aware of up the top of the column is the ignition barrel - which can stay in situ. If you do need to take the ignition barrel off (say, to release the column lock), dremel a slot in the shear bolt and it'll come out with just a screwdriver.

Thank you Aaron,
just what hat I needed to know, sounds like a straight forward job.
