Wanted: Gen 1 chevy headers for side pipes?

    Afternoon all,

I've got a GD mk4 I'm building and as usual I'm being awkward in that Ive got side pipes for it.

I'm also running a gen 1 (1973) chevy sbc with ali heads and straight plugs.

I've started doing some cad models for the headers but wondered if anyone else had some made up and if so where/who?

Link to the cad model album

    Hi Greg,

Interesting cad drawings. I see your going 4 in 1 and back 1 to 4. Can you not fit 4 pipes without reducing? Is there an obstruction as keeping with 4 pipes would be less work and also better for flow.

    Options in fabrication.

    1. Plastic plumbing pipes
    2. Toilet rolls !
    3. I saw the Iceengineworks system at Silverstone Classic. Nice system if your making lots of systems as a builder.

    4. Measure cut and cut again trial and error.

    Using stainless steel dairy bends.

For my GD I fitted a LS1 and only used the first piece of the header (4 into one pipe). From this point on everything is made new (stainless steel).Just by measuring, cutting, measuring, cutting, welding. The available is very limited !
From the header to the side pipe it goes from 4-1-4-1.
I can sent you some pictures by PM or can try to add some from my laptop later on

Hi Jon I've got two options I think but the GD chassis makes the use of 4 pipes straight to the side pipes quite difficult.
    Hence the 4-1-4-1 routing

Hi Marcel if you do have any pictures that would be useful.
I'm after suggestions and ideas othat than what I've looked at already.

I'm hoping to get my engine in the chassis soon so I can get a proper look at the space available.

    Cheers
    Greg

But about £1500 for a full set, I think? But yes - very nice if you're doing it as a job; then again, even the guy I know who does do it as a job thought they were too expensive!

You could 3d print parts for less than that. Ouch!

Perhaps we should have a 3D Printing thread somewhere as this is serious drift from the original question I got an Anycubic Chiron - 400x400x450 build area, but being a Chinese knock-off it does need a few tweaks to get the best out of it (which I'm still learning).

Anyway, I just modeled a Ford FE header flange and I'm working on making it snap onto these (or vice versa, rather): https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2053049

    Actually - started a thread here: http://www.cobraclub.com/forum/showt...962#post592962
