You'd think that after 40 years he'd be able to assess a car and give a realistic assessment of what was needed and cost, there will always be pain in the ass customers,..recognising them as they walk in the door is a learned skill!,

Well using my previous bad experiences as a warning I would have a damn good poke around and write a quote laying out the extent of my liability in regard to not having done the prep and primering, get things in writing and signed copies for both parties, it makes sense and avoids future problems

He needs to get another job before he kills someone or has a heart attack. People don't listen hence why you write everything down and then agree. He needs some business advice and go on anger management.
I am sure this is why Dan in the T.V. series Phantom Works details everything and go through what they want. You still see him coming against issues and challenges.

Just love the guy....MyFriendPete and Minnie the body shop girl are a tonic to watch.
Great informative information in his DIY auto school episodes.

When the owner wants his car sprayed then MyFriendPete needs to know what is under the existing top layer......Is it just mud over rust
I can see Pete's point on not committing himself to an estimate without knowing what is involved.

Time is money - I've watched Phantom Works
No wonder clients are seated for the hundreds of hours labor bill......
Did you like his Cobra makeover? -mmmm

I think Dan @ PhantomWorks must bill by thinking of a large number, multiplying it by another large number, sticking a 1 in front and making sure it's at least six digits long!
