    Holley Carb expert

    Hi Guys
does anyone know of a carb specialist (Holley) in west London or Surrey Way
its running ok but sounds a bit “pinky” I think that’s the technical term and it runs on a bit after switching on
    thanks Howard

If its pinking and running on I would say that's more of a timing issue rather than carb

I would start by checking the timing possibly it's a little too far advanced, then look at plugs to see if they're heavily coked indicating too rich, then you can look at the carb settings, there's more things that could cause the symptoms but these are basic steps I'd take
    Mind you I'm no expert

Before you change anything, and assuming it was going fine, it is worth asking yourself if you filled up with crap/cheap petrol recently???

I tried this before and mainly drew a blank, so started looking at on-line videos, which can be very informative.
My only recommendation (although haven't tried them) is to book the car in to Pilgrim Motorsport who have a set of diagnostic tools, and are used to dealing with carb'ed cars - Mustangs etc,
The problem is that old stye expertise with carbs is on the wane.

Try Chris Todd - 07773514032 - he met me at Farnborough on the rolling road and checked my Holley - Charlie did the performance tests - 01276686111. The rolling road is in Farnborough, Hants, not Longcross as on some web searches.

Good shout about Charlie, he runs Surrey Rolling Road (now moves to Farnborough!) - he will know who’s who in the zoo for your specific setup.

Perhaps a bit far but Cheng at Thunder Road Cars are highly recommended. http://www.thunderroadcars.com/
    Cheers, Clive

(If I'm not here, I'm either in my new workshop or on the golf course!)
