Lexus Botherers : Oil Filter location possible solution.

The Lexus / Toyota 1UZFE can be a bit of a tight fit in various chasiss around the oil filter location and quite a few people have either used a remote filter or have adapted the chassis to suit.

Here is a different and quite elegant solution.

Looks like a damn good idea but lost me on "re using the threaded insert" and "whipping out the stud". Did he re use the threaded insert (where) and was it one of the bolts from the original housing that went in the stud hole? I can see him remove the bolt and put it down but looks like a completely different bolt that goes back in, or is it just too early in the morning?

I tried a number of ausi and nz take of designs and threw them all in the bin because of oil leaks. Non of them sealed properly. In the end I modified the standard Lexus filter plate. Cut it down the the base, welded a couple of anc adaptors to it and used it as a take off to a remote filter. Just wanted to get the sender's away from the engine. Also, the size filter he's using, you're likely to be changing that quite often. It would be pretty close to my power steering pump also.
