    Fuel pump position

There is much speculation regarding the positioning of fuel pumps relative to the tank outlet. I intend to purchase a carter TP4600HP fuel pump for my chevy carburettor 350 short block build. owing to the fact that its not possible to locate the pump close to the tank outlet off i intend to position it adjacent to the bellhousing that,s approx 1.3 metres from the tank. The pump inlet would be approx 130 mm above the tank outlet.
ideally the pump inlet needs to be close and below the tank outlet but its not possible.
    Any comments welcome.

As long as it’s self bleeding, I don’t see an issue (Some pumps need to orientated correct to bleed)

I have my carter located in the boot above the fuel tank (Dax) - not had a problem with it.

    Thanks Gents
I think i now know what i need to do, mount it near the bell housing, in the correct orientation of course, ideally away from any heat source and keep my fingers crossed.
    Regards

I would be interested to see any photos of how you mounted this and the plumbing routing. I am not at all happy with the present location, two inches from a rapidly rotating shaft!

    Cheers, David.

When i get the pipework and fuel position sorted i will see if i can get some photos to you, of course my engine wont be running at this stage so it wont prove that the pump is delivering at optimum rate.

Ah, right. That's why I wanted to know as the pumps I believe rely on gravity feed to it.
