    Guessing you mean a 3-4-5 triangle? That's OK if you know 3 sides (of a RA trianle) and want to find the other but inputs here are an angle and a distance between 2 mounting points, I could be being dumb (no change there) but don't see how Pythagoras can help there.

    I'm using TAN<angle> * <Dist between mounts) = shim thickness

    I took it that he's used it to confirm his datum points to ensure it all square and then use trig for the toe. That's what I did, with the help of some lasers as well 😉
