AK Header clearance
Hi has anyone had header clearance problems with the chassis ?
Mine have either been made wrong or my engine needs packing up
its a ford 302 in a AK Gen 2 chassis

Yes on the offside as that is the rotation of the engine under torque.
Solution is to either pack up the engine mount, or cut out and flatten the chassis section. I have been informed by Jon that cutting that bit of the chassis is perfectly fine, however it must be done properly and the new flat welded in correctly.
I would shim out the engine mount as the first port of call mind.

I also have minimal clearance on the offside.
I had chat with AK about it at Stoneleigh.
They can sort it for you. Basically I think they fix the engine down and heat the header and then "persuade" it.

Hello,
Probably something totally different but my LS3 in Gen2 chassis also had header clearance problems on Near Side (passenger). Headers were hard against passenger wall.
Solution was to cut out a section and reverse it and glass back in, so headers are now in a square void\space.

Good luck
