Thanks chaps, seems 305 impossible to get hold of, these tyres are 10+ years old so makes sense. Interesting drive in the rain!

    Will go with the Avons.

Question, can I go 225/65 on the front? or best stick to 60?

    Thoughts?

I have seen 225/65 on a car and they fill the arch well also he uses them on the track in anger. I cannot remember what he had on the rear size but were/60 profiles..I recall the size on the front as it was when I was looking at Avons.
The suppliers to me said they could try a few different sizes so I would be happy.

    Hi Martin
Have decided to go for 235/60/16 on the back and probably 215/60/16 on the front as I want to keep the height of the car similar to what it is now. Haven’t totally decided the make yet, but Bridgestone looks promising
    Thanks

I’ve got galaxy’s on mine. 235/60/15 on front and 255/60/15 on back.
You’re welcome to come round and look/try wheels on yours. I’m in Portchester.

Sorry to hijack the thread (although I am looking to buy some Gallaxys!) but Andy and Roy I live in Waterlooville (and grew up in Portchester!) and finally have my Cobra on the road. I know we have just gone back into lockdown but would be great to get together! I will PM you to exchange details if you are interested. I know one or two other local Cobras.

    Hi Roy,
I've got 16" rims so the 15's will be no good for me.
    Thanks for the offer though

You seem to be very limited with 16 inch . I thought we had limited options with 15 inch but lucky we have either Avons or the Galaxy's.

Yes 16” are very limited, I’ve spent hours on the internet trying to find replacements. The backs are the issue unless I want to go for tyres that lower the car, which I don’t. Probably end up with normal road tyres not sporty summer tyres.
