    Tyre help

    Hi guys,

Pretty new to the whole Cobra scene.

Need to replace some very old tyres on cobra.

    Sizes are:
    305 50 15
    235 60 15

    Any recommendations?

    Much appreciated.

305! Damn, that's some steamrollers you have there

I think these days your options are pretty much:

    North Hants Tyres Galaxy's - https://www.northhantstyres.com/ (their largest is 295, I think)
    Avon CR6ZZ - https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/vin...von-cr6zz.html
    Pirelli Cinturatu - https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/pir...ollezione.html

Quite a few folks have used the Galaxys with good reports here, and the plus point is you'll probably get all four for the cost of a single Avon.. £500 a set vs £2000.

I've got 235 Galaxys on the front of mine - they look good imho, but can make static turning of the steering wheel a bit heavy.

If you intend to do track days then the Avon CR6ZZ are the best. I went with Galaxy's and am very happy with them in both dry and wet road use, but never had them on the track. There is a cost difference about double. I did not want the white lettering on the outside so put the letting on the inside. Just my preference. They are non-directional tyres allowing you to put them on either way. I went with the original tyre sizes 215/60 15 front and 235/60 15 rear. I could of gone with 235/60 front and 245/60 15 rear as they have more of a vertical wall than my previous BF Goodrich tyres. I would not go with the BF Goodrich tyres after experiencing the difference in the wet.

305 are huge and going so big in such a light vehicle will give you aqua planing above 65mph. Seat of the pants once you experience it !I seen a few on RAMS and Unique Autos with 305's. Not sure why they went that wide.

Replaced my old Pirellie 600s with Gallaxy 215/60 r15 up front and 245/60 r15 for rears .
And yes I have the raised lettering on show, not everybody's cup of tea but I like it and
    that's what counts.
I have only had them a few weeks and I am more than pleased with how the handle and look.

    Hi Guys
I'm in the same situation, i need some replacement tyres for my Cobra.
I currently have Toyo Proxes T1S fitted.
215/55/16 on the front and 245/55/16 on the rear.
Have spent ages looking for replacements but no success as yet
    Any help would be appreciated
    Cheers

Think you have an answer above: Galaxy 215/60s on tyre front, and 245/60s on the rears.

Kev, he has 16" not 15".
Mine are 225 60 16 continental front and
Avon turbospeed 255 60 16 rear about £800 to £1000 for the rears and under £300 for the fronts.
This is on an AK and gives me 10cm ground clearance under my sump guard. Oh and fills the arches and looks damn good in my opinion.

Sorry, some more 16" tyre comment:

I had some older tyres on my GD Mk3
    Rear: Toyo Proxes T1-R 245/55 R16 100W
    Front:Toyo Proxes T1-S 225/55 ZR16 99Y XL

I tried everywhere but could not find matching replacements so, after input from Andy at GD, went with: Rear Toyo T1R 225 x 55 and T1R 215 x 55 on the front. These are not the same tread pattern but felt fine.

Andy, I would be very interested to know what you decide on.

    Martin
