Hi Barry I’ve just measured the sump that I’m going to fit and Sod’s law it measures up as needing the thick gasket and I’ve got the thin! Doh ! I just thought whilst in lockdown I may as well do mine as it hasn’t been run for 5 months so should be a clean job!! I now need to try and get a thick gasket!
so I may have a thin gasket for sale ?

Thanks Mark. I have a feeling (to be confirmed) that i may need a thick gasket also as I came across an email of 8 years ago from my engine builder that says whilst the block is 1973 all his builds use a timing cover and sump for a 1975- 79 hence the thick gasket - watch this space

Quick update all - Oil Pan removed without much effort, measurements 2 3/8" depth and 5 3/4" width so that aligns with the Thick Seal according to Summit

I did find this on eBay

I've not ordered it as ended up using the infills from real steel and plenty of RTV. which so far seems to have worked well. Not sure how easily it'll come off yet but am hoping it's on for a good while 🙂

Hi Barry got mine stripped yesterday and it measures to be the thick also, the sump was tricky to get off and really well sealed but seems to have been leaking from the rear. Gone all out and ordered a new sump as can’t get the one I was going to use nice and straight, good luck with it.

Hi all - quick update, fel-pro one piece gasket fitted. Yet to run in earnest but looks to be good seal so we shall see. See attached info on torque settings, thought may be of interest
