    speedo calibration

    hi all
i want to recalibrate my speedo to read slightly higher than actual speed. i know what the formula is to do the calculation but not sure if the tyre/wheel circumference should be higher or lower than to make speedo to read higher, i think its higher

As your tyres wear down you speedo / odometer readings read higher .
    Not easily noticed though .

You could check this over a measured mile if you have or know of one
    near that you.
Taxis use these for there calibrations checks which are carried out
    by Hackney carriage officials.

Your better off using a sat nav and calibrate it to that. The sat nav should read closer to actual than the speedo in your car as they are normally set up to 5% higher than actual.

But if you drop the pulses per mile the speedo will read higher than it did before.

No, I'm not "repairing" it, I'm fine tuning its performance.

I tried to use a speedometer app on my phone and found it really wasn't very accurate.
