Just spotted on ebay.

Looks like a nice build if block is good.

Yes a good buy and worth a punt.
I bought mine from ebay for £500 and it was perfect, on the original bore etc. A damn good starting point from which I built a fantastic engine.

Worth a punt for sure. Bell housing as well! That engine might have the reinforced webs in it too (truck motor).

looks like a truck engine medium duty....reinforced webs, 2 bolt mains might be a steel (larger snout) crank too.

That age should be hydraulic tappet 390(1?)

Could be a nice build option. In that year it should have the slightly larger 4.05" bore, even if its the smaller 360ci truck engine. The previoous 352s had a 4.00" bore. Small but important difference as the valves on aftermarket heads won't clear the cylinder walls on the smaller 4" bore.

I saw this yesterday after contemplating converting my Dax from Chevy to Ford. And bang, here it is on these pages! But wondering if the hassle is worth it?
More thought needed I think.

Been looking at the 390 FE option for a build and would put ali heads There are so many cast iron heads usually the truck one are restrictive but solid bottom end to build on.
It's got the bell housing as well which is a bonus .

There's two of us with an FE in a Dax now .. well.. one and a half? Since mine isn't finished. I can certainly tell you that it's a tight fit. A very tight fit.

The bell housing - assuming you don't want an SFI steel bell housing to save your ankles in the event of a catastrophic failure - has got to be a £700 saving or thereabouts (that's what my QuickTime bell housing cost me by the time it was landed in the UK, anyway). And the engine is cheaper than I paid for either, er, any of my three!
