Nah, under £200 - it'll be US gallons, not our more voluminous superior Imperial gallons

Even so .. that's 120kg of fuel at the back end of the car. Good for endurance, I suppose, at 8mpg!

That's a lot of fuel behind you. 8mpg x 42 Gallons = 336 miles. I think would be filling it half 168 miles between fill ups. £100 a fill up. That's eight half fills ups too Lemans. £800. I think I did £250 of fuel 2018.

I might be why its got such low mileage lol

It is indeed, and the kind of thing I like (would never conside a carb' these days) but just commenting on authenticity which I don't care about but probably would if I was paying top dollar. Luckily I can't aford it!

Interesting reply from the owner on the auction site.

"In answer to the recent questions: this car was bought from the Kirkham UK sole distributor, Hawk Cars Ltd. You can see many invoices from Hawk showing work done on it in the past. My accounts dept. are trawling through old archives to try and find the original bill of sale however, if I can’t find that I will get a personal letter from Gerry Hawkridge to certify that this is an original Kirkham car. The car is obviously a replica, therefore in order to be as authentic as possible I have copied ideas from many others and used the plate from an old 1951 AC on display, showing the corresponding chassis/engine numbers etc."

The last statement is very worrying "used the plate from an old 1951 AC on display"

I wonder if it was first reg'd in California (in which case it'll be registered here as a 1965 AC Cobra) or first reg'd in the UK.. impossible to tell, of course, given the pictures show it wearing another cars plates..

I wouldn't have thought you could advertise with different plates, unless you clearly stated it?

I see traders advertise cars with blanked out plates all the time, but an entirely different (yet 'similar') car does seem .. underhand.
