Catalytic converters fitted between headers and side pipes

    Hi All

I am thinking about fitting some cats on my Rover 4.6l that has an Edelbrock carb. The engine is pre 1992 so I don't technically need to have cats but I am going to be doing some work on my exhaust and thought that it may be a good opportunity to fit some cats (trying to be a bit more Green). Do any of you have any advise i.e. are 200 cell sports cats OK. I would be fitting them between the headers and the collector for the side pipe. I have seen that Maganflow do a 200 Cell Cat that is only 8" long so I should be able to fit this in.

Any advise would be much appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Rob

If I were going down that route you would need to consider changing your
fuel system to fuel injection otherwise you could have problems with the
    cats overheating.

Your driving a V8 Cobra and you want to be a bit more green, save your money for the cats get the Cob sold and get a Nissan Leaf or a push bike.
Or better still save your money put some fuel in it and drive the damn thing.
Sorry for the rant but all this virtue signalling to save the planet drives me mad.

Thanks for the comments. I thought I would get some ribbing!

It may be that I will not put them on but I wanted to know what issues there are.

    Many thanks

I won't get into any political debate, but our cobs leave a very small carbon footprint compared
to, yes even the electric jobs that are being pushed at all cost.
By the way the electric jobs are being charged up with coal, gas and diesel in the main and we
are going to have to buy a personal generator so that we can charge the electric cars and keep the
    heating etc on .
Fine mess we are getting in, rant also over .
I do also have a couple of push bikes that run of calories with beer included for extra power.
    Chris.

    Hi Gav

Is your engine a carb engine or EFI?

    Thanks
