Fog and reveres lights .

Greetings
my old 1980 Brightwheel has the light slung under the back ,not embedded in the bodywork.I am unclear if I can still do this for my new build.All advice gratefully received.
My preference is to hang them under the body if I can get away with it.

They Must be a minimum 250mm from the floor to the bottom of the illuminating surface. Fog light must also have 100mm minimum separation from the brake light.

Mounting them Below the rear deck of the cobra will be too low. They need to go on a bumper or the body area under the boot lid if no bumper is fitted

I frenched my fog lamp into the valence below the boot lid. But that was a couple of years ago. Passed SVA in 2004 so no idea if it’s at the correct height. The fog lamp was only a few quid but it looks ok and works well.

I fitted a duel reverse/fog lamp for the IVA test this summer, which looks neat and discreet.

I removed the bars so lamp could be clearly seen and just had the over riders fitted.

Is it just me who can't see Stephen's pictures? (I get a 404, but you folks seem to be replying to him so maybe it's just me!)

They're mounted on a basic flat bar cross-shape which uses the same threaded rod as the bumper:

I don't actually intend to run bumpers.. but they are the most convenient way of mounting things!

Hi

I did not want bumpers so I fitted mine to the body for the IVA as you can see from the first picture. However, once it passed the IVA I wanted something a little bit neater so I fitted some neat LED ones as per the second picture.

I got rid of my inefficient ugly rectangular fog lamp and rev lamp which had been badly mounted in cut outs in the body work, as they were dim and being obscured by the bumpers. I replaced them with two round LED combined fog/rev lights, using homemade brackets which are attached behind the over riders.

The lamps are protected if I accidently back into a wall, as they fit snuggly within the recess of the bumper.

They are way more efficient than the old filament lamps and the rev lamp actually lights up the neighbour’s fence now at the end of my driveway. I decided to fit a "pair" of high power Fog lamps, as I wanted to make sure I could be seen just in case I got caught in yet another torrential down pour, especially at night

I've got a 404 as well. Assumed it was my incompetence, but maybe affecting others too.
