If you don't know what rack it is, you will need to messure up and go to
an old style motor shop, they should be able find what you need.
Failing that I would think that you can still buy the universal ones ?
Chris.
Just noticed one of my steering rack gaiters has a split so needs replacing problem is I don’t know what the rack is off. Does anyone know?

I believe they are based on mk2 ford escort. Its a modified rack. If they look like these.

Could do with a pic, mine is an early chassis and has a Triumph rack (herald/spitfire bitsa).

I seems to recall both the Escort & Triumph racks being mentioned at various times, I think the Triumph was on early cars and Escort on later but could be wrong. My car was built in 1997, don’t know if that helps. I’ll try and get a photo later and post it. Is there anything I could look out for to determine model?
Been out to look at the car today, it's up in the air at the moment and there's not much visibility of the rack, I can see the ends where the gaitors are and they do look simlar to those Escort ones Jon posted a link to. May take a punt at getting some of them, if it turns out to be the others it won't brak the bank!
Most probably it is a Triumph Spitfire steeringrack. Some weeks ago I have mounted a new one.
Rod ends need to be adjusted
