Re: New AC Cobra

I was just wondering about this statement from the ACCARSUS (Does anyone else read it as Toys'R'US?) website: " The carbon-fibre bodied AC MkV is based on the design of the Le Mans winning AC Cobra...."
Which one was that then? The 289 Cobra that actually looked like a Cobra came 7th at Le Mans in 1963, and the Cobra that won in `64 was a Daytona, so just how is the MkV based on either of them?
AC is dead. RIP. (But the buggers won`t let them...)

Re: New AC Cobra

****s! What was I thinking. The Daytona didn`t 'win' Le Mans in `64, it was 1st GT, 4th overall..... behind 3 Ferraris, Oh well, that was 3 less ahead of it than in `63.
So. Which Cobra won Le Mans then??????

Re: New AC Cobra

Lets face it, there will never be genuine AC Cobras made again; if anyones that desperate for an AC badge, there are plenty on Ebay for less than a fiver!!!
I guess the closest 'modern' equivalent to the original are the Brian Angliss cars, which you can still find (the Brooklands built alloy body jobs) for around £35,000 with small block ford.
I'd love one, but then again, I dare use my RAM!!!

Re: New AC Cobra

Good points Steve, and no, I haven`t had a reply to my email yet!!!!
I must admit that if money were no object, I`d have a Kirkham 289FiA from Hawk. OMIGOD! How sweet are they?!

Are you crying with joy then? :thumb:
I saw the black 289 & the Viking blue FiA at the Classic NEC show last year, Hawk sharing their stand with the Superformance Le Mans Coupé.....
MANSIZE tissue territory! Gerry Hawkridge had to prise me off with a cro-bar!

Re: New AC Cobra

I can't possibly think of any other reason tissues would be needed....
