shinybitz reality check

the following information has come to you after a longest year of my life all thanks to shinybitz.

All the following information is true state of fact that has been deemed by the courts of law. This is not hearsay or slander or any judgment on character and has been passed trough my solicitor before release.

I purchased a exhaust from the above in September 2005 (pictures below to make your own minds up) i attempted to get my money back without the use of the courts, which landed me in court facing a provocation of violence rap of which i did 150 hours community service, I still protest my innocence.

I then took shinybitz to small claim court, after an adjournment to consider witness statements, the judge found in my favor in January of this year. The judge found that the exhaust was not of satisfactory quality, not fit for purpose . Then awarded me the return if the cost of the exhaust (£440) together with the contribution towards the cost of the engineers report (£100)

This is very viable fact following a county court hearing.

Shiny bits

Well done for chasing to the end.

Could you not also use the Trade Descriptions Act regarding the definite lack of shiny bits?

Jeremy

Looks like mild steel bits and welding rods been used instead of stainless,
this should have shown itself when you first viewed the finished product,

Well done Roger, my thoughts on shinybitz are well known on this forum and with the bad press he's had recently I'm surprised he still gets business although I know from experience that there are still people out there who are willing to give him some doubt, best of luck to them I say

hi fair point on thte noticing at time of purchase. Unfortunately I have a S2000 and its not even possible to crawl underneath it.

Upon purchase and a spate of trouble with lamber sensors, fumes and cracks it spent the next 3 weeks in and out of his workshop. Then shortly after that was removed and a scorpion systems was put on.

(awesome system no trouble at all and very very friendly guys AND VERY VERY SHINY )

This is all well over a year ago now.

Why on earth would you (as a manufacturer / retailer of stainless items) use stainless pipe sections and then weld them with mild steel and add mild steel hanging brackets?

If, giving RBitz the benefit of the doubt, they accidentally used the wrong spec wire, why not just put their hands up, admit the mistake, and replace it FOC to retain credibility in the industry?

Not in the case it would appear.

Makes times when a supplier has done just that (admitted the fault / error regardless of cause) and put it right without a quibble all the more impressive (In my case Engine Factory and i had a misunderstanding on starter and flywheel and they fixed it without any issue)
