Fastco Automotives new "TRACK MASTER " engine just

Hello CRC track day fans we've just released or new Cobra "Track Master" engine....for those who have the need and the cahoones to race there Cobra on track days.
Over the years we've recieved many requests for a full bore track / race & street driven engine.
So we've sat down and toss'd a 1,000 ideas @ the configuratiuons of such an engine ....hummmm mix'n race engine & street engine theory & parts is and can be a dangerous program/thought .....all out race & street driven engines do not always mix well..so a lot of thought will have to go into get'n our cake and eating it too.

Anyhow we think we've deleveloped an engine with the BHP & torque to satisfy the heavest lead foot out there... and is happy to cruise the motorways & tear up the tarmac @ any race track.
Here's the quick skinny
Chevy 383cid BHP target 500 BHP real world#'s & ft lbs 490 ft torque real world.
Now the good stuff....
1- E/W USA 4340 forged crank 3.750 stroke , LIGHTWEIGHT full CNC
Hines balanced with 6.250 dia Fluid damper & 15 lbs billet flywheel & Centre Force dual disc clutch kit....trick stuff & easy on the left leg.
8- E/W USA 4340 I beam rods 6.00 full CNC ARP 2000 cap screws 7/16 dia...."Ultra-Lite" rods.....1000 BHP rated
8-Mahale 4032 low expansion alum. pistons, Grafal anti friction coated the latest in piston tech & super lighweight , compression set @ 11:1
1 Mahale file fit metric moly ring pack....file fitted for track use & street
1- Custom grind hyd cam....TIGHT centre lines...fast action hyd.
16- Var-Duration anti pump up hyd lifters by Rhoades.....best out there.
1- Rollmaster billet chain set or Cloyes gear drive system (option).
1- Pro-Comps 100% CNC ported heads full comp V/T , E/W Moly steel roller rockers 7/16 stud mount.
1- Kevko all out race custom oil pan 7qt , all the tricks....baffels,gates & crank scraper & traps.
1- P/P air gap intake full port match & port matched and spacer matched.
1- Custom made CNC carb spacer used by IMSA...NASCAR & Sprint racers .......latest tech in carb spacers.
1- Quick fuel tech 750CFM race track carb with in car vaccum secondary control system *(in car dash mount)...dial'n in your secondarys opening rate as you drive/race.... very trick indeed.
1- E/W Mega-Fire billet dizzy & Mega-Fire MSD 6AL ignition system installed & E/W Outlaw series coil @ 60,000 volts...helps keep all the candles lite
All this engine & all the goodies and on a budget......@5480 GBP
A L@@k inside the beast:
As you can see in photos those 4340 rods with 7/16 dia ARP cap screws swing'n on that 3.750 stroke crank required major block clearing....

We are about to track test this engine...in the UK & Europe with a pro UK race team driver.. .& believe me this man can drive the wildest of beasts & win races...we'll keep you posted on our dyno & track results.....pics to follow......great fun.
Hope to see some CRC members & there Cobras @ the tracks this year! Fastco Auto's "busted knuckles tour" 07...... Bands Hatch ect ect

Track Master engine with gear drive option..

Pic of Track Master engine with gear drive option installed....some like the blower like sound that emits from these systems...another benifit no more chain stretch or cam timing variations due to chain stretch/ slap.
Cheers! Dr,Dee

Very trick mate.

Whats the custom cam timing specs??

11.1 compression is pushing it a bit for street use on 95 ron fuel??

You'll be lucky to fit that carb spacer under our cobra bonnets. What is the thickness??

Cam specs are to our spec...basic #'s .540 lift , 244 dur....and
We've run'n engines with 11:1 comp on street engines 30+ years with ally heads only.....0 problems both sides the pond.. Oh and iron heads are a differant combonation...it all works together...after you get the math done and the right parts used... its all in the choice of heads , camshaft & induction & ignition system and calibratrion & modification of parts
Carb spacer must be used with FOMOCO Cobra style oval air filter low profile....or Billet Specialtys low profile oval air filter kit......spacer is 1" thick so no problems clearing most Cobra air scoops..
My 1 pence 2.2 cents....... Cheers! Dr,Dee

Quite a lot of (admittedly modern) engines running this high cr on 95 ron, although most of them bike engines, but car engines have been playing catch up with bikes for years LOL

Yes your correct mate, most Audis run at 11.0 comp, but have proper fuel and ignition systems that can cope with that, not like our old boat technolgy.

Nice job, great engine!
If I recall correct the right word for "Nuts" should "Cojones" I like the expression very much. Like you say, you should have it to drive with this engine.
Great!!!!

11.1 on Ally heads is ~ 10.1 on Iron Heads and with a cam at 244 with I suspect a large overlap the dynanmic CR will a lot lower than the 11.1 so 'may' be OK on 95RON - wouldn't want to try it out on my own engine first but a large cam will give the same dynamic CR as a smaller cam on a lower Static CR engine.

One of those fine balancing acts......

Yes indeed good point James....run'n 11:1 comp on pump gas..means very carefull selection of camshaft profiles & opening & closing of valves BTDC & ATDC and ofcourse lobe centre lines are critical...yes it is a balance act , large valve overlap @ low RPM does greatly reduce cyln static comp.
We've sent a lot of engines to UK & Europe @ 10 to 11:1 comp...no complaints to date.
I've driven cross the pond our 450+ BHP 383 stroker engine cars with 11:1 comp ally heads..gased up with Tesco & Sunoco pump gas...great fun..0 ping 0 knock 0 run on...

Ignition tuning & carb calibrations are also very important....
Cheers! Dr,Dee
